Organize services by category
If your salon offers hair, nails, aesthetics or other areas, grouping your menu makes it easier to find services at reception and on service orders.
When to use
- Salon with more than one specialty
- Menu with many services (a long flat list becomes confusing)
- Team that prefers to filter by area when opening a service order
Solo studios with few services can leave this off — the flat list works fine.
Step by step
1. Enable categories
- In the Services or Products list, use the Organize your menu banner and click Set up categories (or wait for the wizard on your first visit).
- Alternative: Settings → General → turn on Use catalog categories.
- Save.
If you prefer the flat list for now, click Not now on the banner — you can return later via the same banner or through Settings.
2. Create groups (e.g. Hair, Nails)
- Still in Settings, open Catalog categories.
- Click New category.
- Type a name (e.g. Hair, Nails, Aesthetics).
- Repeat for each group that makes sense for your business.
Tip
You can reorder categories later — the order appears in the service list.
3. Assign a category to each service
- Go to Services.
- When creating or editing a service, choose a category in the form.
- Services without a category appear under General.
4. Use it day-to-day
With categories active, when adding an item to a service order you can filter by category — useful when the receptionist knows the area but can't remember the exact service name.
Turn off categories
To go back to a flat list:
- Settings → General
- Turn off Use catalog categories
Services are not deleted — they just stop showing the grouping.
Can't find where to create a category in Services
Use the Organize your menu banner in the Services list or the Set up categories shortcut in the 3-step wizard. You can also enable it in Settings → General.
